With three decades since the monumental Million Man March on October 16, 1995, I vividly recall that remarkable day on the National Mall. During a time when Bill Clinton held the presidential office, tension gripped Congress due to the anticipated convergence of one million Black men in Washington, D.C.The day unfolded with splendid weather and an electric atmosphere. Proud Black men of diverse ages filled the D.C. streets, with countless women proudly holding signs declaring their love for Black men. An overwhelming sense of unity and purpose engulfed the event, which served as an inspiring moment in American history.Reflecting on my journey from West Baltimore, attending the march encouraged my commitment to becoming a better man and community advocate. Many attendees, including former gang members, returned to their communities motivated to effect change, embodying the march's enduring legacy. As we commemorate this 30th anniversary, we must recommit to addressing systemic injustices and fostering accountability, aiming for equity and justice for all Black men and families.
