In an interview with PEOPLE, Haddish opened up about the difficulties she’s faced while navigating her career ahead of the release of her new memoir, “I Curse You With Joy.” In fact, “f— fame,” Haddish told the outlet. Her latest memoir comes after she released her 2017 New York Times bestseller “The Last Black Unicorn.” “I wanted this book to be about something,” Haddish said of “I Curse You With Joy.” “I felt like I needed to live a little more life and get a better understanding of where I am now.” Since the 2017 release of her first book, Haddish has faced several controversies including the resurfacing of a 2014 Funny or Die skit that spurred a child sex abuse lawsuit and DUI arrest in Georgia. “I hated that I had to go through that, but I had to so I could create better, know better, and do better,” she said.
