The Sagicor COTECC Junior International Tennis Tournament is into its final day at the National Tennis Centre in Beausejour, Gros Islet. This prestigious event features 48 players from seven countries: El Salvador, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda St Kitts & Nevis, Great Britain, and the host country, Saint Lucia.
Among the standout performances, Saint Lucian athlete Merkisha Justin emerged victorious in the Girls Under 12 final, defeating Briella Lake from St Kitts & Nevis 5-4(7-0), 4-2. Additionally, Saint Lucia’s Samuella Justin triumphed over Brooke Hosam from Antigua & Barbuda, winning 4-1, 4-2.
Jaelyn Henry is in two finals on Thursday. The young Saint Lucian has been unstoppable throughout the tournament, showcasing her exceptional skills and determination by winning every match.
On Wednesday, she faced a tough battle against Madison Khan from Trinidad & Tobago, overcoming her in a thrilling three-set match to advance to the final of the Girls Under-14 Singles.
In addition, Henry also secured her place in the Girls Under-14 Doubles final.
On Thursday, she faces her toughest challenge yet—taking on the number 1 seed, Makeda Bain from Trinidad & Tobago, who is also ranked number 7 in the COTECC region.
