Top local golfers to compete in LatAm championship

Saint Lucia’s two top golfers will be winging their way to Buenos Aires, Argentina in the coming days, for the 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC).
Yadhu Urs and Harith Khan will be competing with over 100 of the top emerging golfers from 29 IOC-recognised territories, qualified by way of their placement in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) system.
Urs, 21, is making his fourth championship start. In 2022, he created history as the first Saint Lucian to make the cut at this level, finishing 34th. He improved on that finish in 2023 when he tied for 19th in Puerto Rico. In 2024, he was fourth in the Northern Ohio Amateur and started his season for Ohio Dominican University with four top-10 finishes.
“The expectations are high,” he told St Lucia Times. “I try to push myself as much as I can to set achievable goals – but high goals at the same time – and hopefully I can continue with what I’ve done.
