Tributes pour in for Mariah Carey after her mom & sister died on same day

On Monday (August 26), Carey revealed that her 63-year-old sister, Alison, and her mother, Patricia, 87, died within hours of each other over the weekend. “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” Carey said in a statement, per PEOPLE. “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.” Alison was the singer’s older sister and the middle child of the late Patricia and Alfred Carey, who died in 2002 at 72. The parents also shared 64-year-old son Morgan, Mariah’s older brother. The cause of death for Mariah’s mother and sister remains unclear.
