The revered bronze bust of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a significant symbol in the Oval Office during the Obama and Biden administrations, has been relocated. It now occupies President Donald Trump’s private dining area adjacent to the Oval Office. This artwork, created by Charles Alston in 1970, has been on loan from the Smithsonian since 2000. It marked a historic milestone as the first portrayal of an African American showcased at the White House. The bust has been situated throughout the White House, but never on the State Floor due to Dr. King's civilian status.
