Emergency personnel from the Gros Islet and Babonneau fire stations rushed to the scene at Choc, Castries, where two vehicles collided on Sunday. The emergency responders learned of the incident at about 9:58 pm. On arrival, they transported two male individuals to the hospital, one of them in unstable condition. Highlighting the current challenges, the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) recently explained that its resources were ‘overstretched’ due to an upsurge in bushfires, which has been adversely affecting the timely response to some life-threatening emergencies. Despite road safety appeals from the authorities, Saint Lucia has also experienced a road accident spike this year, resulting in seven fatalities.
