Ukrainian stakeholders and international experts discuss reparations for damages, losses, and injuries resulting from the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine

The Council of Europe, the International Organisation of Migration (IOM) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organised a high-level roundtable on “Reparations for Damages, Losses, and Injuries Resulting from the Russian Federation’s Aggression against Ukraine.” Held in Warsaw, Poland, the event provided a platform for in-depth discussions regarding the progress of reparations and compensation efforts, facilitating coordination among various initiatives, as well as the international Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation Against Ukraine. The roundtable gathered a wide range of international experts and Ukrainian national authorities, including the Ministries of Justice, Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure, Social Policy, General Prosecutor’s Office, Parliamentary Committees, the Supreme Court and Ombudsperson’s Office, as well the NGOs. The exchange focused on key issues on implementation steps recommended by the Council of Europe in its expert report “On Remedies and Redress Mechanisms for War-affected Individuals in Ukraine”.
