 In recognition of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, WindRose Health Network is offering a week of free, confidential HIV screenings across its facilities.  According to the Indiana Department of Health’s 2023 report, approximately 13,000 Hoosiers are living with HIV/AIDS, with nearly 400 new cases diagnosed annually.   Communities of color and LGBT individuals are disproportionately affected, representing over 60% of new diagnoses.& “According to NIH it is estimated that 40% of new diagnoses of HIV are transmitted by people who were not aware of the HIV status,” said Dr. Joy Odeta from WindRose. “Screening for HIV is extremely important. Screening not only saves one’s life but also saves the life of your partner and children. Early diagnosis and treatment for HIV can lead to a healthy and longer life.”& Free screenings are available at the following locations and times:& Dec. 4: WindRose Trafalgar Center (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)  Dec. 5: WindRose Epler Parke (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)  No appointment is necessary.
