On a recent episode of “The Bigger Picture”, a weekly hip-hop debate show hosted by Jeremy Hecht, Elliott Wilson and DJ Hed, the topic was which rapper has had the greatest feature run of all time.
As they debated between JAY-Z, J. Cole and Lil Wayne, the California DJ / radio host / media personality shared two insider stories from Universal Motown Records that supported the idea of Wayne as the feature king.
Hed explained that at one point, Tunechi‘s features were so dominant on the radio, UMG had to tell other artists: “We can’t work your record, because there’s an oversaturation of Lil Wayne.”
He also revealed that the record label even had a dedicated position just to track and clear every single one of Tune‘s features—a full-time role with a salary!
Watch the full clip below. Call me biased, but when it comes to feature runs, there’s no answer other than Weezy!
