Vandalism charges against a graffiti artist accused of spray painting the silhouette of Beavis from the TV show “Beavis and Butt-Head” throughout Detroit have been dismissed after a judge ruled there was not enough evidence to proceed with the case. Bryan Herrin, who goes by the moniker BVIS, was charged in June with six counts of felony malicious destruction of property, which carries a penalty of four years in prison. District Court Judge Ronald Giles of Detroit’s 36th District Court dismissed all charges on Thursday after hearing the evidence prosecutors had against Herrin at a preliminary examination. Giles ruled there was not enough probable cause to send the case to trial in circuit court. Assistant Prosecutor Maria Miller said Giles did not allow prosecutors to admit some documents and did not allow some witnesses to testify, which “negatively impacted the case.” The prosecutor’s office is in the process of determining whether it will appeal the court’s ruling.
