Victor Brown Named Provost of Husson University in Maine

Victor Brown has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. He will assume his new position on September 9.
Dr. Brown brings over two decades of experience in research and academic settings to his new role. Most recently, he served as the associate provost for academic programs and educational effectiveness at the Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York. Earlier in his career, he held dean positions with Bergen Community College, the TCI College of Technology, and Burlington County College. He also has experience teaching at historically Black institutions, previously serving as a research professor and program director at Tuskegee University in Alabama and as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Fort Valley State University in Georgia.
Throughout his career, Dr. Brown has focused his research efforts on educational program development and management. For his dedication to advancing the education of first-generation and underrepresented students, President Biden awarded him the 2023 United States Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Brown received his bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. He holds an MBA from Emory University.
