Virginia State University, the historically Black university in Petersburg, Virginia, has been approved to establish its 14th master’s degree program: a master of science degree in data analytics. The new program will be housed in the university’s College of Engineering and Technology. It will be available for students in both online and in-person formats. Students enrolled in the master’s degree program will study specialized computer systems for large datasets, identifying data trends, creating visual presentations of data analyses, using artificial intelligence tools, and other skills that will prepare them to use data to make strategic technology and business decisions. “We are thrilled to launch this new master’s program, which represents our commitment to preparing students for success in rapidly evolving STEM fields such as data analytics,” said Dawit Haile, dean of the College of Engineering and Technology. “I am confident the program will provide students with cutting-edge skills and knowledge to pursue high-level careers in today’s data-driven world.” The master of science in data analytics program will begin accepting students for the fall 2024 semester.
