An upstate New York police chief has been placed on administrative leave following disturbing cellphone footage that depicts his girlfriend assaulting two Black teenagers while hurling racially charged remarks and asserting her position as a law enforcement official. The viral clip reveals Susan Rice confronting the teenagers, ages 16 and 18, as they relax on a porch. When they suggest she return to her residence, she retorts that they don’t contribute to the property and boasts about her own home, stating, “This is my estate.”After she is dismissed, Rice claims, “We are the police,” then derogatorily labels them, “Section 8.” Amid their laughter, she charges up the porch steps and strikes the 18-year-old. As the 16-year-old records, he retaliates, knocking her down. The incident occurred on July 18 in Johnson City Village. Shortly afterward, Rice confronted police, resulting in her arrest on July 21. She faces several charges, while the police chief, Joseph Zikuski, was placed on leave during the investigation.
