Where Everyone Belongs: Sacramento’s Accessible Arts Scene Blossoms

Stand-up comedian Nina G skillfully weaves her stutter and dyslexia into her comedy, transforming personal challenges into relatable humor. Yet, her mission transcends laughs; she champions representation in the arts. Based in Pleasanton, she emphasizes, “Most of all, being funny is paramount.” Nina G leads the Comedians with Disabilities Act, created by late Sacramento comedian Michael O'Connell in 2010. After his death in 2016 due to muscular dystrophy, a memorial ramp was built at Sacramento Comedy Spot, symbolizing his legacy. Touring throughout Northern California, the group showcases diverse talents from those facing various disabilities. Recently, Nina G performed in Sacramento, humorously blending her stutter into routine, illustrating the balance of comedy and advocacy in a heartfelt space that celebrates inclusivity.
