A family from North Carolina continues to seek answers and accountability from a dental clinic following the tragic death of their two-year-old son, Er’Mias Mitchell, during a dental procedure. Seeking treatment for a simple cavity, Er’Mias was taken to Valleygate Dental Surgery Center in July. After staff deemed him healthy through standard checks, the child was administered anesthesia for the procedure, but complications soon arose.While waiting, his parents remained unaware of the unfolding crisis until emergency services arrived, transporting their son to the hospital without them. They were later informed that Er’Mias had suffered a collapsed lung during surgery.Despite assurances from Valleygate’s CEO, Virginia Jones, regarding an internal review by experienced anesthesiologists, the family feels they have yet to acquire crucial details about that fateful day. State inspectors found multiple health and safety violations at the facility, prompting its temporary closure.
