The Wiley Manuel Bar Association celebrated its annual Legal Fusion on November 5 at the Citizen Hotel, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to both the legal field and the Sacramento community. The gathering united judges, attorneys, and law students, emphasizing Black excellence in law and public service. Outgoing president Saron Tesfai noted that Legal Fusion acknowledges community influence and strengthens ties among Black legal professionals. This year’s event shifted focus, presenting three awards as the lifetime achievement and judge of the year honors were merged, with Justice Stacey Boulware Eurie receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedicated commitment to equity. Attorney Carmen-Nicole Cox earned the Attorney of the Year accolade for her relentless advocacy in criminal justice reform. Additionally, Larry Lee accepted the Community Service Award for the OBSERVER’s enduring mission of amplifying Black narratives. Tesfai also encouraged future attorneys to seek mentorship, highlighting the community's commitment to supporting the next generation.
