Winston-Salem State University and Wake Forest University Establish a Pathway Program for Aspiring Physician Assistants

Historically Black Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine have recently established a new partnership to encourage Winston-Salem State University students to pursue a physician assistant education with Wake Forest University. The department of physician assistant studies at Wake Forest University and the School of Health Sciences at Winston-Salem State University previously had established a working relationship through the Robert Lee Wooten Certificate Program. The program provides a series of workshops as well as Wake Forest University faculty guidance to students interested in a career as a physician assistant. Through their most recent collaboration, the physician assistant program at Wake Forest University will begin formally recruiting students who meet admission requirements and have been recommended by Winston-Salem State University leadership.
