Fans Select WNBA All-Star Captains: Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier Take the Lead

The league announced on Sunday that Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx topped the fan votes, earning the titles of captains for the WNBA All-Star Game. Set to be broadcast on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET on July 19, the showdown between Team Clark and Team Collier will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Clark garnered 1,293,526 fan votes, while Collier followed with 1,176,020. The remaining eight starters will be unveiled during an ESPN special on Monday at 7 p.m. ET, with selections based on fan votes (50%), players (25%), and media (25%). Clark expressed her excitement, stating, “It’s cool that fans get to be a part of it and have a little impact on the game. … I want to make this the best All-Star that the WNBA has ever had.” This marks Clark's second All-Star appearance in just her second season, whereas Collier will be making her fifth All-Star selection since being drafted in 2019.
