Discrepancies in Police Account: Georgia Black Man Shot Amidst Gunfire Raises Alarm

A police officer in Georgia asserted that he fatally shot Gregory Peter Paige, a 27-year-old Black father of four, after Paige allegedly brandished a firearm and discharged it, instilling fear for his safety. However, a month following the shooting, the St. Mary’s Police Department has yet to identify any weapon recovered from the apartment where the incident occurred. Furthermore, the department has withheld body camera footage that could clarify whether Paige had a gun during the encounter with the officers. A third officer, present at the scene and who did not fire his weapon, reported that Paige "pointed" something at them but mentioned no firearm. The investigation, led by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, revealed no mention of a firearm. Legendary civil rights attorneys Benjamin Crump and Harry Daniels now represent Paige’s family, indicating a forthcoming lawsuit.
