Yusef Bunchy Shakur: Making History as Michigan Roundtable's First Black Executive Director

The very neighborhood that once labeled Yusef Bunchy Shakur a threat now affectionately refers to him as “doctor.” His transition from Zone 8's streets to executive leadership exemplifies overcoming adversity. Recently appointed executive director of the Michigan Roundtable for Just Communities, Dr. Shakur embodies lived experience as expertise. His leadership, rooted in community engagement, challenges systemic inequities with the aim of fostering genuine social justice.
