On October 16, 2024, the President of Guyana, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, announced that Guyanese 18 years old and above are eligible to receive a one-off cash grant of 100,000 Guyana dollars. “My government will now [provide] a one-off cash grant of $100, 000 to every citizen of Guyana 18 years and above, as of January 1 2024,” Ali announced in an address posted on the official Facebook page of Guyana’s Office of the President. To qualify for the grant, individuals must verify their identity as a Guyanese national by showing they own a valid national identification card and/or a valid passport.
