Detention officer charged with bringing contraband into Forsyth County jail

A detention office with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has been charged with bringing prohibited items into the jail.   After receiving information that unauthorized items were being taken into the Forsyth County Detention Center, an investigation was launched that led to Detention Officer Bryant Wilson Reid, who has worked for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office since last January. At that time, an internal administrative and criminal investigation was initiated, and Reid was placed on administrative leave on Friday, Feb. 14, as is customary with internal investigations.  Six days later, on Feb. 20, Reid’s employment ended. Reid was later arrested and charged with one count of introducing contraband to a detention center. Reid received a $20,000 secured bond and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 13 at the Forsyth County Hall of Justice.  Reid is the second employee of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office to be charged with bringing contraband into the detention center in the last three years.
