Across the United States, several municipalities are characterized by their homogenous Black or African American populations. For example, Jonestown, Mississippi, recorded a 100% Black demographic in 2025, housing 866 residents, a decrease from 956 in 2020. The median household income is a modest $20,900, with over 60% of the population living below the poverty threshold. In Georgia, Lincoln Park also features a completely Black population of 715 individuals, who experience a median income of $48,006 yet grapple with a poverty rate nearing 19%. Harlem, Florida, with its 3,050 residents, sustains a poverty rate just above 5%. One resident poignantly expressed, “Being 100% Black means 100% of the weight is on us,” highlighting ongoing dialogues surrounding equity and community support.
