SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Juneteenth Black Business Expo makes its return to Veterans Plaza this Sunday, showcasing a vibrant tribute to Black entrepreneurship, culture, and community. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the complimentary event is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring myriad Black-owned enterprises presenting a diverse array of offerings, including fashion, art, barbecue, Caribbean delicacies, and carnival snacks. Live performances and a DJ will enhance the festive atmosphere throughout the day. Organizer Nate Bennett shared, “We are a group of 12 close friends—Black men and fathers—who united in 2020 to invest in our community, leading to the creation of this event.” The expo has experienced remarkable growth since its inaugural year, which attracted a few hundred attendees at a local church. “Now, we see 2,000 to 3,000 visitors,” Bennett noted. Attendees are encouraged to secure free tickets on Eventbrite to assist with attendance tracking, though walk-ins are also welcomed. The event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.
