“Titanic: The Musical” is coming to Carmel next summer.
As part of their 20th anniversary season, Actors Theatre of Indiana is presenting “Titanic: The Musical” for a two-night only performance June 20-21. Written by Peter Stone, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, “Titanic: The Musical” first opened on Broadway in April 1997, ran for 804 performances and won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
Although the show is not related to the 1997 film of the same name, “Titanic: The Musical” is based on the true story of the RMS Titanic, which sank on its maiden voyage on April 15, 1912. The show is centered around the stories of real people aboard the ship, and the hopes, dreams and ambitions of its first-, second- and third-class passengers, according to a press release.
Actors Theatre of Indiana presents the musical in collaboration with the Carmel Symphony Orchestra and Indianapolis Arts Chorale.
