BCF Adopts Additional Measures After Inmate Attack

Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) was putting ‘additional measures’ in place to prevent further violence after a male inmate attacked another on Sunday, sources have disclosed. But officials would not go into details. The alleged perpetrator attacked the victim with an improvised weapon, inflicting multiple injuries. As a result, the victim, who was on remand regarding a firearm-related offence, had to be rushed to a medical facility where he was in stable condition. St. Lucia Times has learned that both the injured inmate and the alleged perpetrator are from Vieux Fort. However, according to reports, the victim has declined to press charges. A Department of Home Affairs statement on Sunday’s BCF incident said prison officers responded swiftly to an altercation involving two inmates during a routine recreation break for the Remand Block. The statement said the officers quelled the altercation, ensuring the safety of other inmates.
