Belize Plane Hijacking: Suspect Killed in Dramatic Standoff

BELIZE – On Thursday, an American man commandeered a small aircraft in Belize, injuring two passengers and the pilot. The chaotic situation ended when one wounded passenger fatally shot the hijacker, identified as Akinyela Taylor, a US military veteran, as the plane ultimately landed safely. Carrying 14 passengers and two crew members, the Tropic Air flight from Corozal to San Pedro experienced nearly two hours of turmoil before police helicopters escorted it to Ladyville airport. Belize's authorities swiftly declared a full emergency. Three injured individuals are receiving medical care.
