Honoring Black Brilliance: Key Moments from the Bethune-Heights Recognition Breakfast

Some mornings are not merely beginnings but pivotal moments for transformation. On Saturday, May 10, the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. hosted its 30th Annual Bethune-Height Recognition Breakfast in Cincinnati, marking a day rich in significance. As the sun rose, Black women and their supporters arrived in attire radiating both elegance and purpose, turning the event into a tribute to heritage. Upon entering the beautifully decorated reception hall, a sense of belonging enveloped me, supported by a shared understanding among guests that we were home. Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney, serving as emcee, infused the event with her passionate remarks. The keynote address by Gloria Samuels captivated attendees with her insights on resilience and strategy. The program featured inspiring performances, such as 13-year-old Narvis Tribble delivering the Negro National Anthem, along with notable changemakers present, epitomizing community solidarity. Ultimately, the event served as a powerful reminder of our collective potential to elevate and empower, energizing us for future endeavors.
