On Saturday, June 14, over 8,000 residents of Cincinnati joined countless others nationwide in approximately 2,100 No Kings demonstrations, marking the most significant single-day protest since President Trump's inauguration in January. The Cincinnati gathering commenced with a rally at University Pavilion on the University of Cincinnati campus, followed by a march through Clifton and Ludlow Avenues, concluding at Burnet Woods Park. Although the university blocked public access to its parking facilities prior to the event, it unfolded peacefully and successfully. Organizer Ethan Grzeda highlighted, “The Trump regime aims to make us feel isolated in our opposition.” Brian Griffin of the AFL-CIO reinforced that when democracy is threatened, “working people don’t stay silent.” The protests were part of a national action opposing Trump’s flag day celebration. As organizer Valerie Barrett asserted, “This is a people's movement,” emphasizing that they are determined to uphold their constitutional rights against intimidation. The 50501 Cincinnati coalition, along with local partnerships, spearheaded these demonstrations, reinforcing that America remains a democracy free from monarchy.
