A disturbing video captured an incident where a sheriff’s deputy in Los Angeles County restrained a Black father, Alec Sisson, in front of his children during a minor traffic violation. Reportedly, Sisson, aged 29, was stopped less than two blocks from his mother’s residence for allegedly rolling through a stop sign. After presenting his license and registration, Sisson was unable to offer proof of insurance as the vehicle belonged to his mother. Despite his suggestion for her to bring the insurance card, Deputy Guerrero commanded him out of the car.Following compliance, Sisson was handcuffed and placed in the patrol vehicle, while his 8 and 10-year-old sons remained inside. Deputy Guerrero cited a Supreme Court case, but did not provide explicit safety concerns or check the vehicle's insurance via in-car systems. Although deputies falsely accused Sisson of having a suspended license and threatened to involve child services, he was eventually released after his mother presented the insurance documentation, facing only a minor citation for the traffic infraction. Sisson plans to pursue legal action against the department.
