DeAndre Calderon, a two-time Saint Lucia Junior Sportsman of the Year, is spearheading the national team at the Caribbean Regional Table Tennis Federation Championships in Barbados this week. He is accompanied by Dawitt Nurse, along with promising young talents Manie Eleuthere and Joshua Lubin. Eleuthere and Lubin return to the venue where they recently earned three bronze medals at the CRTTF Youth Championships only two months ago. They played integral roles in securing third place at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in April, qualifying for this year's Pan American Under-23 Games in Paraguay. Calderon, a Corinth native, is coming off a successful German club competition. Despite an injury, he is now fully fit and has previously showcased his skills on the international stage, winning matches at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games as a teenager. From Tuesday to Sunday, the team will face off against top table tennis athletes from across the Caribbean in team events, men’s doubles, and singles.
