The Center for Sacramento History is commemorating National Archives Month by hosting the 15th Annual Sacramento Archives Crawl on October 4, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. This complimentary event invites the community to delve into a curated selection of artifacts while discovering the significance of archives and honoring the archivists who bridge the past with the present. “Our archivist team eagerly anticipates this event every year, aiming to unite individuals in exploring Sacramento’s history through primary sources,” stated City Archivist Sabrina Holecko. The Crawl spans four prominent sites in downtown Sacramento: the California State Archives, California State Library, Center for Sacramento History, and Sacramento Room at Sacramento Public Library, with convenient free bus transport linking each venue. Guests will receive an Archives Crawl passport to collect stamps from all locations while engaging with archivists, examining unique library collections, and potentially winning prizes. The Center will offer behind-the-scenes collection vault tours and spotlight a special exhibit on the Brandt Recording Studio and its record pressing process. A live performance by youth jazz band TNT, as well as an exhibition showcasing the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee's highlights, will also be featured.
