Chick-fil-A to Open New Location in Downtown Detroit
News Talk
Popular chicken chain Chick-fil-A is expanding further in Michigan, with plans to open a new location in downtown Detroit.
Crain’s Detroit Business reports that the store will be located in Dan Gilbert’s First National Building, joining existing eateries like Shake Shack and Central Kitchen + Bar. Gilbert’s real estate company, Bedrock, aims for a May or June opening.
This will be the second Chick-fil-A in the city, following the one located at the Detroit Medical Center. It also joins the roughly ten other stores that have opened in the greater Detroit area in recent years.
While known for its fried chicken sandwiches, the Georgia-based chain has also garnered attention for its Christian values. This includes closing on Sundays and holidays, as well as past donations to organizations opposed to LGBTQ+ rights. However, the company has reportedly moved away from such practices in recent years.
