Following a notable decline in 2024, the incidence of firearms theft from vehicles has surged once more. In response, Chief John Drake has unveiled an innovative public interactive dashboard, enabling Nashville residents to monitor where gun thefts are occurring in Davidson County.
“Gun theft represents a genuine safety concern, as it places weapons in the hands of individuals who may engage in violent offenses,” Chief Drake stated. “This new dashboard provides insight into which neighborhoods, council districts, and zip codes are particularly affected by gun theft. I encourage our community members to utilize this resource as a reminder to protect their firearms and personal belongings.”
Accessible at Police Data Dashboard: Stolen Firearms Map | Nashville.gov, the dashboard features comprehensive data on firearms stolen from vehicles, individuals, and structures. So far this year, 541 firearms have been stolen from cars, marking an 18% increase compared to the previous year. In 2024, the total stood at 928, reflecting the lowest rates since 2019 and a decrease of 23% from 2023.
