Kayne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church will hold its 153rd Homecoming on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the 10 a.m. service. The Church is located at 1025 12th Ave. South, Nashville, TN. The featured speaker is Bishop Mark Freeman from Charlotte, NC.
The anniversary theme is “God’s Faithfulness Through the Years.” “It shows how the church has withstood tragedies and celebrated triumphs through strong faith, rejoices in its sesquicentennial and beyond,” said Rev. Dr. P. Michelle Wyatt, Executive Pastor. The church has been located on 12th Avenue for 53 years and has had 15 senior-level pastors throughout its history. This celebration event is an opportunity for a celebratory praise, worship, and hearing a powerful word!
Our Brief History:
In 1872, under the leadership of the Reverend E.T. Jones, a Church was organized and named “The College Street Baptist Church.” Later, Reverend Jones moved the Church from Third Avenue South to Eleventh Avenue South. A few years later, the Reverend A. Thomas was called as pastor, and he moved the congregation to Bilbo Street (now called South Street).
The Reverend Jim Cotton succeeded Reverend Thomas as pastor. During his pastorate, a lot was purchased at 1408 Pennington Street (now called Edgehill Avenue)....
