The Circle City Classic, now in its 41st year, honors Black culture, athletics, and entertainment. This month, powerhouse HBCUs Morgan State University Bears and Miles College Golden Bears will face off for the very first time in this historic event.
Alice Watson, President of Indiana Black Expo, expressed enthusiasm for hosting both teams. "In today’s climate, our mission is vital to showcase HBCU talent in the Midwest," she remarked. She encourages alumni and new supporters to join the festivities at Lucas Oil Stadium, celebrating the revered HBCU football tradition and vibrant bands.
Morgan State, the home team, concluded a successful 2024 season with a third-place finish in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and features the ‘Magnificent Marching Machine,’ renowned for its performance at the D-Day anniversary in Normandy. Visitors Miles College also had a notable season, with a 10-3 record and an Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.
Beyond the game, festivities include community events, a Coaches Luncheon, a Talent Day career fair, and an Education Day, all leading up to the 3:00 p.m. kickoff. Tickets are available from April 21; for details, visit circlecityclassic.com.
