City Unveils $10 Million Initiative for Affordable Housing: New Developments and $1 Lot Projects on the Horizon

Next month, the Winston-Salem City Council will decide on initial funding for the recently approved Affordable Housing Development (AHD) program. This program aims to foster affordable housing by allowing developers flexibility in creating rental and owner-occupied units. The city has earmarked $10 million for projects this cycle. Six proposals from various developers are now under consideration, including three Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) projects and initiatives for city-owned parcels. The full council is set to vote on May 5.
