Clergy Teams Up: Advocating for Fair Review of Imam Ayman Soliman’s Case

Imams and Islamic leaders from Ohio have united in a heartfelt appeal to endorse Imam Ayman Soliman and to advocate for an equitable and transparent examination of his immigration status.Imam Soliman, a highly regarded spiritual leader, has been a key figure within the Greater Cincinnati area, notably serving as a chaplain at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he has offered vital spiritual support to families regardless of their faith, the imams noted.In 2018, he was granted asylum in the U.S. after adhering to established legal protocols. However, on July 9, he was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to an unexplained revocation of his asylum, and is currently being held in Butler County Jail.The imams emphasized the troubling lack of transparency surrounding his detention, highlighting concerns about due process and the fundamental rights of asylees. They urged the Department of Homeland Security and ICE for an immediate and transparent review of his case, advocating for thorough due process given his positive contributions to society.
