Ex-Laker Christian Wood Allegedly Employs Ghost Gun to Thwart Home Invasion, Say Authorities

Christian Wood, a former Los Angeles Lakers player, recently made headlines following a dramatic incident at his Sherman Oaks residence. On Wednesday afternoon, while at home, Wood encountered three intruders who unlawfully entered his property around 1 p.m. through the back door, seemingly unaware of his presence. Throughout his career in the NBA, Wood has played for multiple teams, such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks, before joining the Lakers from 2023 to 2025. In his eight-year tenure, Wood participated in 339 games, averaging 13.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists while boasting an impressive shooting percentage of 51.4%. According to law enforcement reports, the weapon used for protection was a ghost gun with an illegal high-capacity magazine, which Wood stated was not his but found within the rental home. Currently, he is a free agent.
