Cornelia’s free expression wall repainted due to gang graffiti

The city of Cornelia has repainted the expression wall located at the skate park near downtown. The city repainted the wall when the police department recognized that the wall had been “tagged” with gang slogans and graffiti. (Jerry Neace/NowHabersham.com) According to a press release from the city, the City of Cornelia constructed a Free Expression Wall at the Cornelia Skate Park in June. The purpose of this wall is to allow aspiring artists a place to legally showcase their artistic abilities. Recently, the Cornelia Police Department noticed gang slogans painted on the wall. As a result, the city has painted the wall, covering up all the artwork that had already been painted on the wall. The wall will remain open for the time being but if inappropriate material is painted on the wall again the wall will be permanently removed, according to the press release, The free expression wall is located between the city’s skate park and J.
