From Learning to Scholarships, Dallas ISD Expands Student Horizons

Dallas ISD middle and high school students involved in extracurricular clubs find that education extends well beyond the classroom. This year, the Student Activities Department has curated a diverse range of programs, from academic contests to performance opportunities, aimed at immersing students in enriching experiences and new knowledge.The department's theme, “Enjoy the Experience,” encourages exploration, travel, and the pursuit of academic scholarships. Debate team members will engage in Arctic research, while participants in the Lone Star Challenge will delve into Africa's geography and early civilizations. Decathletes will explore the Roaring Twenties and jazz culture, and UIL Academic students will dissect works by literary icons such as Shakespeare.Lennon Formaggini, a student activities coordinator, emphasizes the importance of these experiences in fostering critical thinking and leadership. Students can also travel for competitions beyond Texas, exposing them to new environments and adventures. Opportunities abound with substantial scholarships available from various competitions, highlighting the multifaceted benefits of Student Activities under the guidance of Director Antonio Verduzco.
