Morehouse's Dilemma: The Case Against Cornel West

Once, the name Cornel West resonated deeply. He was a formidable moral philosopher who boldly confronted societal norms, uplifted Black radical thought, and insisted on accountability regarding justice and dignity. Regrettably, that period seems long gone. In 2025, Dr. West will serve as the commencement speaker at Morehouse College, my revered alma mater. While I voice this with disappointment rather than anger, I feel compelled to say that such a prestigious platform should honor our young Black men's achievements, not serve as a backdrop for someone seeking redemption after years of prioritizing celebrity over community.Morehouse’s graduates deserve a speaker who embodies commitment and excellence, rather than one whose actions reflect opportunism. These times call for substance, not superficiality.
