Denis, Piton win Soufrière and Les Etang Sports

The thrilling young athletes of the Soufrière Primary School stepped onto the town’s synthetic track for their annual sports meet last Thursday. Denis House got the victory with 603 points, 85 points clear of Mondesir on 518. Alcindor, with 490, stood a further 28 points back, and Hippolyte dropped off the pace to finish with 476. After the road race, and prior to the track events, Hippolyte led on 191 points, over Hippolyte by 29 points, and Mondesir by a further 26. Alcindor was on 91 to sit fourth. Rhayne Henry was the best athlete for Denis, as she captured three gold medals in the Under-13 division. D’Hazel Paul was also one of two Under-11 boys with two gold medals each. Paul’s medals came in the Under-11 cohort, where Chance Isaac was the other boy with two gold medals for Hippolyte. Kayla Gills of Alcindor dominated the girls’ races with three golds. In the Under-13’s, Azzan Charles of Alcindor was the lead boy, earning two gold medals and a silver.  Among the 13-plus girls and boys, Kiana Stanislas of Mondesir (three gold, one silver) and Nathan Joseph of Hippolyte (four gold) shone most brightly.
