The Motor City Cruise, affiliated with the NBA G League and the Detroit Pistons, has welcomed a familiar figure back to the lineup with the recent signing of Ray Williams, a native of Detroit. This addition revives a local narrative within the Wayne State Fieldhouse. Williams, a 6-foot-4 guard, was selected from the available player pool after making a notable impression during the fall, which earned him a spot in the training camp following an open tryout. Although he did not initially make the team, his skills and perseverance led to this second chance. A product of Wayne State University, where the Cruise is based, Williams had a commendable career over five years, averaging 8.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and nearly one assist in 95 games, along with two GLIAC All-Defensive Team selections. Additionally, center Charles Bediako has been called up to represent Team Canada during the opening window of the 2025 FIBA Men’s World Cup cycle, leading to his absence from Nov. 23–29.
