Mark Sanchez, the 38-year-old former quarterback for the New York Jets and current analyst at Fox Sports, was taken into custody early this morning on three misdemeanor charges following a violent confrontation that resulted in a stab wound to his chest. The altercation occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. in the 300 block of West Washington Street near Loughmiller’s Pub & Eatery in downtown Indianapolis, where Sanchez was preparing to commentate on the Indianapolis Colts game against the Las Vegas Raiders. According to police accounts, the dispute involved Sanchez and a food delivery driver who was making a nearby drop-off. The driver alleged that Sanchez confrontationally ordered him to leave and pepper-sprayed him. In what was purportedly an act of self-defense, the driver stabbed Sanchez, claiming Sanchez initiated the aggression. Following the incident, Sanchez was reportedly uncooperative with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). He was hospitalized for his injuries and is in stable condition. In the meantime, the IMPD has arrested him for misdemeanor battery, unlawful entry of a vehicle, and public intoxication, while no charges have yet been filed against the delivery driver.
