The seasoned kicker for the Atlanta Falcons, Younghoe Koo, has been sidelined. The team announced on Saturday that Koo is listed as out for the upcoming Sunday night matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. To fill his spot, Parker Romo has been elevated from the practice squad. Romo, originally from Georgia and who previously kicked for the Vikings, joined the Falcons just this past Tuesday. Last week, during the waning moments of the Falcons’ contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Koo missed a pivotal 44-yard field goal that could have tied the game at 23. Although he converted two out of three attempts against the Bucs, one kick did hit the right upright. Notably, Koo's benching isn’t due to an injury. After rehabbing from a hip injury last season, Koo has managed only 12 of 20 successful field goals in his last nine appearances. Once celebrated as the league’s most precise kicker, he currently holds the 29th rank out of 31 for field goal percentage (73%) among those who have made 20 or more attempts since the 2024 season commenced.
