Five talented players from Saint Lucia have been chosen to compete in the 2025 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, featuring newcomer Keon Gaston and returning fast bowler McKenny Clarke. Veteran batsman Johnson Charles rejoins the defending champions, Saint Lucia Kings, alongside Shadrack Descarte and promising young talent Ackeem Auguste, following Wednesday's player draft. Unfortunately, Kimani Melius remains overlooked. Clarke, 22, aims to revitalize his T20 journey with the Trinbago Knight Riders after last playing for the Kings in 2023. He has not debuted in three seasons with MI Emirates but shone earlier this year in the Cricket West Indies Breakout League, accumulating nine wickets, including a pivotal 3-34 in the final. Gaston, also 22, performed remarkably for the Windward Islands Infernos, taking five wickets. Former Kings captain Faf du Plessis' exit places additional pressure on Charles, who scored 452 runs last season. The CPL's 13th season will occur from August 14 to September 21, with teams required to play at least one “breakout” player each match.
