Join us on September 11 at 10 AM for an important press conference at Golden Gate Village, located at 105 Drake Ave., Marin City, CA 94965.
Reflecting on my journey from the early '90s, I recall a moment traveling on Highway 101 when I glimpsed a vibrant public housing complex nestled in the hills. Now, two decades later, I discover that this very place embodies a crucial part of my life. Golden Gate Village honors the steadfast spirit of resilient Black families who overcame adversity and fought for dignified housing, shaped by the vision of esteemed architects Aaron Green and John Carl Warnecke.
This community, recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, symbolizes pride and connection. On September 11, the Golden Gate Village Resident Council will unveil a resident-led initiative aimed at fostering community empowerment and justice. Together, we advocate for accountability and a promising future where Golden Gate Village remains a sanctuary for generations.
