(The Dallas Examiner) – The rhythm of drumming circles and songs by local bands filled the air as residents visited with vendors from the county’s Black-owned businesses during the 50th annual Harambee Festival, Oct. 26. This year’s theme, “Harambee … A Global Celebration!” encompassed the meaning of the word ‘harambee,’ which is Swahili for “let’s pull together.”Harambee is the oldest and largest African American cultural event in Dallas. It was created to increase educational and cultural awareness throughout the community.
